It's not your normal view of a retired naval cruiser, but who wants a normal view for any photographic image? I stopped to admire the symmetry of the vessel's graceful bow, accentuated by the curvature of the number 11 on either side.
Really the only thing that was not symmetrical was the jetty rope - but that didn't worry me. This was shot at the Australian Maritime Museum in Sydney.

I 'bow' to your photographic skills - as others say, perfect symetry and an unusual shot.
We were at a shopping mall this afternoon and I said to myself--"David would take an odd angle shot of that." So, since you weren't thre, I did.

I love this photo...and I have a special reason for loving nautical photos. My Daddy was in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He served aboard the USS Appalachian and was involved in the invasion of the Phillipines. Not long after the atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Daddy along with other sailors were ordered to go into the remain(s) of each city. He went. He doesn't talk much about it...but he has told me a few stories. My Daddy is 84...is in wonderful health...and as you can probably tell, even at 60 years old today, I am still a "Daddy's Girl"... Thank you for this photo that elicited these memories...and for giving me space to share them with you.
