Verse And Worse

Random Wit, Errant Rhyme. Not A Literary Crime

We're on the Queen Mary at the captain's table
The skipper of the vessel looks just like Clark Gable
There's a cad wearing denim with a must-be-seen label
While the women are all wearing ermine and sable

On a ship made of moonlight, we stood at the mast,

And what we looked forward to most was the past

So the rowers rowed backwards and the stern split the sea

I ordered it done to bring you back to me.

The crew were so happy
The passengers blessed
But whatever happened
To the Mary Celeste?

The stars were ablaze
The guests lit up too
What heavenly days
If only we knew

So the Cad said he wouldn't be able
to get anything on the TV cable.
Then I thought I would like to have Mable,
sitting with me at the Captain's table.
