Verse And Worse

Random Wit, Errant Rhyme. Not A Literary Crime

Thank you, Our Father, for this tree proud and wooden
And the brandy-blue flame atop this plum puddin'
Thank you for the birth in that most humble stable
And assure me that girth in this season's a fable

David --

May you enjoy an increase
of Christmas mirth,
And a decrease
of Christmas girth.

Merry Christmas! Or should I say, Mele Kalikimaka!

'Cause the long walk home will reduce my weight
As surely as a life of love will eliminate hate.
God bless us all on this beautiful night
And welcome, welcome, most beautiful Light!

Merry Christmas, dear David,
God's Blessings to you...
Good health, joy and wisdom,
To those you love, too.

You've added new joy
To my life here this year....
To view things like you do
Has brought me great cheer!!

Nothing can annoy

Quite like a doltish drummer boy

Out on his backside he slid

For waking the kid!

I love these "poems" you post! THis one reminded me of the first Christmas my kids and I celebrated with my Dad's sisters (right after my Mom died). My older aunt had made plum pudding and her daughter had told her to "flame" it. She drenched it in whiskey or brandy -not sure which -but it wouldn't flame. My uncle kept whispering to her "Pour a little more on it, Lizzie!" (And his wife sat there giving him some really dirty looks over those suggestions too!) That's one memory that has never faded from my kids' minds of their great-aunts and uncle -nor mine either, for that matter. Thanks for bringing that memory back to me of a wonderful day and celebration we had.
