Heaven Help Us

Almighty Row Over Attempt To Sue God

If God fought the law, would the law win? That's the question being asked in the US by Senator Ernie Chambers, who sued God last week. Angered by another lawsuit he considered frivolous, Senator Chambers said he was trying to make the point that anybody can file a lawsuit against anybody. The Omaha senator is seeking a permanent injunction against the Almighty.

FOOTNOTE: So help me, God.

This reminds me a little of the book Blameless in Abaddon.

It is sad how people sue over the smallest things. Man has taken the Ten Commandments out of schools and court rooms. But in the end, GOD will have full control. So my answer to your question is, no the law would not win.

That is plain as day crazy.
The answer?
Possibly. But only because it was part of the plan ;)

Hi Andrea,

Reminds me of the movie, `Oh, God' starring George Burns and John Denver.

When God/ Burns takes the stand to give evidence, he used the line, ``So help me, me.''

HA! Not so fast! The 10 commandments don't cover everything. What about refusing to help someone, standing by and letting something bad happen? Don't see that one in there. Chocolate, also, should be compulsory, as should clearing up after yourself.

Anyway. If it helps stop the tide of everyone sueing everyone else, I'm all for it. Sadly I don't think it will. It has already started to seep in over here, too....

Hi Helena,

Lots of depth there, and so many wonderful thoughts. Most of all, I agree that chocolate should be compulsory!

Actually, Helena, the 10 commandments have been summed up by Jesus into 2:Love God, Love your neighbor. The first 5 deal with loving God and the other 5 with loving mankind.

Suing isn't very loving. :)

I heard God has some great lawyers. No, that can't be right. The lawyers would be somewhere else. He, he.

Yes, Eve, I'm sure they were. But the examples I gave still aren't in the "Ten".
