The Crepes Of Wrath

Photo Hunt: Paper

Photograph copyright: DAVID McMAHON

This is my first entry for the popular "Photo Hunt: Paper" theme. I recently bought a gift-wrapped cyclamen for someone I love very much, and the square decorative pot had this simple pink crepe paper around it, wrapped in place with a wide ribbon. A couple of days later, I took the ribbon off and lifted the pot out to water the plant. And that's when I noticed the unusual perspective of the soft pink crepe. Out came the camera and I fired off half a dozen frames from different angles before replacing the cyclamen.

FOOTNOTE: Isn't the Tour de France really a cyclamen race?

That's a beautiful shot for the paper theme. It looks like the paper is almost as beautiful as the cyclamen it was wrapped around. That's saying a lot because I love cyclamen.

G'day Ellen B,

My humble thanks. I do try and ``see'' different perspectives when I'm writing my novels and when I'm taking photographs too.

Do keep in touch.

G'day Sara,

Thank you for that comment. I've always tried to persuade photographers to tell the story ``behind'' their shots.

Thank you for the great welcome.

Do keep in touch.

G'day Hootin Annie,

Lovely to hear from you. Glad you enjoyed my work.

It is not quite as beautiful as the love of my life. She is one special person.

G'day Sabine M,

What a great welcome. I feel like part of the group already thanks to all of yoo.

Glad you liked the picture.

The footnote is just a silly pun on ``cycle''. Just a flippant moment that I allow myself sometimes because I believe in humour!

Do keep in touch.

David

Hi David. Greetings from BC, Canada. I love this take on paper, a very creative eye. Welcome to the hunt. I see we have great stuff to look forward to here each week.

Hello from Adelaide. I am new this week too. I am not really one to buy flowers, but I can see their therapeutic value. One of my wife's colleagues was diagnosed with breast cancer last week and had a breast removed this week and then it is on to chemo. The hospital room full of flowers was a very visible sign of the support that she had from family and friends. I will not forget that.

That is a worthy and interesting photo. I'd wish you luck, but you;re a pro, so you won't really need it.

This is a truly intriguing and very beautiful shot, David! Congratulations! :-)
Re you footnote about the Tour de France: The wild cyclamens do not bloom during hot summer days, as much as those cyclists may search for them far off the road, in the woods, they wouldn't find any blossoms. ;-)

Welcome to Photohunt David. I must admit I'd almost forgotten this week and had to do some quick snapping. Enjoy the rest of your weekend :o)

Welcome to the Hunt, David! I normally particpate in the Hunt but just couldn't find anything I liked for the theme this week. Plus I had to work so I bowed out.

I love your prespective on the theme, though, very nicely done and I'm sure that future photo entries will be just as spectacular!
