Shell Shock

Maybe They Were Just Playing Snap

Hong Kong police have arrested two men accused of trying to smuggle more than 7,000 live pet turtles - mainly snapping turtles - to mainland China. The men were caught loading about 300 cartons onto speedboats. Each carton was filled with clear plastic containers containing the tiny dark green turtles, each smaller than a human palm. The police also seized counterfeit DVDs. The turtles and discs were worth $820,000.

FOOTNOTE: Maybe they were coming out of their shell.

In my experience, snapping turtles are mean. It surprises me that they would be in such demand or be so valuable.
