Streets Ahead

There Ain't No Way To Hide Your Lion Eyes

Photograph copyright: DAVID McMAHON

Yep, it's summer. The universities have closed for the year. There are Christmas carols playing in all the shops. The schools are winding down for the long break. The beaches are preparing for the onslaught. Oh yes, and the ice cream manufacturers are ready to rake in the profits. Paddle Pops are a big Aussie favourite, as you can see by this sign on a footpath outside a milk bar, or what the rest of the world would call a corner store, or a convenience store.

Yesterday we actually had thunderstorms in the morning and the temperature dropped a bit, but by mid-afternoon the sun was out again and it was steamy and humid and hot. When I got home, I left my car windows down and half an hour later when I opened the front door I realised the weather had done a complete turnaround and it had started raining again. So of course my car seats were very damp and I got a bad attack of WBS - Wet Butt Syndrome!

Thanks for stopping by. It is winter here and warm-but not short weather. We can actually have a fire today although it is only in the 50's.
Hope your car dried out. ;)

you didn't say, but are the Paddle Pops good? In the states we have Tony the Tiger selling frosted flakes to kids, so I guess these pops must be marketed toward the younger set.

We're having snow and Christmas carols right now in Boston, which is more traditional, but going to the beach and listening to Christmas Carols sounds like a great idea to me right now.

G'day mate!

I'm sure my kids would love those - they love most any cereal. Take care and nice to meet you. Kellan

David, you can see how Yanks think. Due to the heavy cereal advertising on kid's shows anything with the word "Pop" in it mean a breakfast cereal. The power of advertising is enormous, in spite of your efforts. Giggle.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that the lion is getting a little overly excited about his paddle pop.

What a weird way to advertise popsicles.

Well, whatever works..

I long for the days when I'm able to celebrate my two favorite times of year simultaneously.

I live in the wrong climate.

I'm freezing.

Funny advertisement, David. Very colorful too.

I used to have a car with a sun roof. Eventually it started leaking so I developed my own solution to WBS. It was a crib liner pad. The thing was cheap, plastic lined in the middle and perfectly covered the seat in my Camry. Hope my solution helps some.

Peace!
