Stick With Me

Are These The X-Files?

Photograph copyright: DAVID McMAHON

It's not often you see a sight like this. The proximity and the profusion of colours is great, especially with this depth of field. But as you can see, they're just little fragments of Post-It Notes stuck on files and manila folders. It's not the sort of sight you often see - so of course I had to line it up and hit the trigger!

I showed this shot to a number of my work colleagues and not one of them was able to identify what I'd photographed. Did you know what they were - or did you have to read the post to find out? I'd love to know ...

(The Odd Shots concept came from Katney. Say "G'day" to her.)

I guessed they were post-its - I use them all the time! They make a great photo.

I didn't know what they were but I love this colorful photo.

I knew what it was at a glance. What I don't quite understand is how you got into my file cabinet.

Nope! They just looked pretty!

I could tell... and the "stick with me" title confirmed it. But they sure do look great!

Perhaps it has to do with the fact that the pad of post-its now on my desk front of me has hot pink then bright blue and are that exact size, and I use them in just that way on files and to mark books, but yes, I knew.

I thought they were post-its. Great shot, regardless!

Post-its, yes, but why so many and where they are, I'm not so sure. Books that I read to review end up looking like this sometime.

Yes! I recognized them right away...but only because I have some of the exact same colors! :)

I thought they were some sort of cataloguing system like in a library. I've had too much influence from reading Katney!

Great shot. Very colourful. Very.... odd!

I could have sworn that you took a picture of my files or a number of my books. I use post-its all the time!

Great. I am now interested in what lays behind these stickers. (in the file):

I knew they were sticky notes, but I have no clue how you aligned them all. Excellent Photo!

I knew what they were right away. But I am an organizational freak, so maybe I'm odd. ;)

I did know right away and wondered how you were at my house taking pictures of my files:)

That looks like a A.R. person's dream.

Yes, I could tell. Pretty colors...nice pic...like confetti.

Yep, I guessed but it is an intriguing image. What were they all for, were they sorted by date or importance? How many were discarded without action? How many were past-it post-its?

I knew what they were as I am another post-it fan, and have little sticky tabs all over my books and things! What I really wanted to know though was what was the difference with the different colours?

I did think of post-its, but I thought I must be wrong as I've never seen that many. Brilliant colours, and they go on for ever.

Ooh, I knew what they were, that rarely happens. I use post its all the time in my file cabinet. I label each scientific paper I read so I can quickly find it in the drawer. I love how you were able to capture the bright colors. Have a good week!

I recognized them, David, but your post title did drop a hint. Another inspiring composition that makes me want to pull out my brushes and put these colors on canvas.

I DID know what they were - probably because I use them for EVERYTHING. I love the neon ones - I don't colour-code with them, just like the pretty colours....
