Virtual Boxing Is A Big Hit
Women's Institute members in the UK are to battle it out at sports including boxing - in a national Nintendo Wii championship. The games console has proved a hit with WI ladies in Cornwall. Now the Cornwall Sports Partnership is planning to hold a contest for women from all over the UK in the autumn. Sheila Rapson, 75, said: "I'd never even played tennis before but discovered I had a good backhand.’’

The Wii is the best invention ever.
Ever.
I haven't tried the boxing yet, but I hear you can get a good workout with it. I like the bowling. Our library director is planning a Wii bowling tournament for senior citizens.
you knwo they have found people in nursing homes really love the wii too. it's also being used therapeutically in some instances. amazing thing for a toy.
wow! imagine what a good backhand *i* must have if i HAVE played tennis...
i must ROCK at it! oh i so need a wii. and now? i need to wee.
was that too much?
How lucky that they were even able to find a Wii to buy! ;)
Yes, I think the Wii is taking over our world! I've never even seen one myself (does that make me sound old? Gosh, I'm only 32!).
We purchased the console about 9 months ago. We had such a laugh with the Women from Gwinear Parish WI in Cornwall but the best thing is the ladies want to play tennis now (not up for the boxing though!).
Cheers
