Vote Yea Or Neigh

Thereby Hangs A Tail

Photographs copyright: DAVID McMAHON

Late on Friday I was walking to Flinders Street Station when I noticed this unusual display outside EQ, a Southbank restaurant. You can see the petunias, right? You can see the eye-catching orange umbrella, right? You can see the lights, right?

But you're wondering where the critter is? Yes?

Okay, so let me take you to a different view of the scene. With the Melbourne Cup just around the corner (yes, it really is the race that stops a nation) here's some great advice scribbled on the board beside the display.

Now look at the last shot (below) which is another view of the scene, taken from further east. You can see the umbrella, right? You can see the petunias, right? You can see the board, right? And now you can see the horse as well! But go back to the first picture and you'll see it was there all along.

Did you see it in the first shot? Did you really? Let me know how observant you are ......

Yes, I saw it in the first shot and wonder if Blogger had rearranged your images as they have been doing lately and you had not noticed. Of course, you notice everything, so that thought was not held for more than two seconds.

What a strange place to leave a horse.

I did notice the horsie bottom in the first one. How funny to have to ask the horse. :)

did you ask the horse? do tell what did he say.

oh I forget, with the first and then second photo how does one know which end to talk to?

The notice is on the other side of the horse?! Is that what you meant?

PS.... Course I noticed the horse!

Yes, I saw the horse's tail in the first one, but thought it was real, and wondered how it had stepped carefully over the petunias.

I was thinking about the person who would occupy a booth to eat so close to a horse's tail when I viewed your first photo. Thanks for clearing that up with the last shot. Pappy

Hand on heart...missed the petunias and the lights and thought, trust David to find a horse in a shopping centre.

Yes, honest to goodness, I definitely noticed it immediately. That's a good attention-getter for that business -- unique.

Yes, I immediately saw it in the first shot, but, I must admit, I thought it was a real horse in the first shot. hehe Hey, I'm observant, just not perfect ;-)

they way the photos are showing up in my browser ... there is no sign in the first photo! If its there and y'all see it you have xray vision and/or I'm going blind.

Oh yeah, I saw the horse's arse. First thought was political commentary on the US presidential race. :)

Excellent advice, by the way. Always check your sources and don't rely on hearsay :)

yes i saw it right off, i think it would be kind of hard to miss having the back end of a horse to look at, i do like the view from your last shot better though.
The sign is a bit Odd though maybe it can go on Katney's Odd shot on Monday. LOL

I thought it was a real horse in the top photo. The horse actually looks very lifelike in the second photo too! I love the colors of the flowers and the umbrella... very nicely done!

The horse's back and tail was the first thing I saw, I swear.
Simply couldn't miss it. *chuckle*
(I can annoy people to no end with things I can see, or jokes I try to tell. Oh well, better stop right here!)

I saw the horse right off. I like that name "Flinders". I think there is a famous ship by that name.

AT first glance the horse looks real! Nice shots....

Honestly, all I noticed right away was the horse's tail! Everything else was after that.

I did notice the horse's rear but I didn't know what a horse was doing under an umbrella. I believe my first thought was 'What the heck has David found now?' Interesting shot as usual! Enjoy your day.

I saw the horse's umm butt and I was feeling sorry for whomever had to sit at the table facing the horse's rear, having to look at it the entire time!

I did, I did see the horse! But it was kind of like it popped into the picture after noticing the petunias first.

What Bobbie said -- the horse was immediately apparent. What I wondered about was who was cleaning the flowers after ...
