Open Sesame

Bright As A Button

Photographs copyright: DAVID McMAHON

You think I’ve gone mad, don’t you? You think I’ve finally flipped my lid? You think I’ve forgotten how to use a camera, right?

You think this can’t possibly be a door. Ah, but it is. And not just any door.

This, dear readers, is the inside view of the driver’s door of a Rolls-Royce Phantom. I shot this a couple of years ago and it shows (see image below) the buttons for the power windows.

It’s a pity that James Bond never drove one of these. If he had, I’m sure Q would have included a lot more gizmos, switches and buttons.

I'd like a Rolls, with a driver.

Imaginative, inventive and slightly scatty. I did sit in a Rolls once, a very old one that a friend was taking, with his new wife to a new life in California-I believe he used it as collataral, and also rented it out to some film studios.

Bootiful, just bootiful.

I rode in a Rolls once .. very intimidating for about 2 seconds and then I wanted to ask if I could drive ..

Love the impressionistic look of the first photograph...
I've never ridden in a Rolls. Must add that to Life-To-Do-List.

It brings to mind raindrops magnified by city lights in the night.

You just happened to be in a Rolls . . .ahh the life!

Never having experienced a ride in a Rolls, I take your word and picture at face value. You do know how to intrigue and confound when you want to.

What you, flip your lid, David! Never!!!!!
Wow so that is the door of a Rolls Royce! We are not mixing in the same circles, are we! LOL!

Well, that's novel, for sure! Nice looking door, too!

I've always wondered why they put electronics in the doors. I mean, when you open the door or the window in the rain, they all get wet, don't they? Are they waterproofed?

I had to look up rolls royce in dictionary. I thought it was baked goods. Now the pic makes sense.

I completely spaced on The Doors this week. (In my defense, it's been an unusually hellish week, but still.)

I love the bokeh in the first shot. It doesn't always work, but it does here.

And there's definitely something about a Rolls that almost commands the camera. I found one of my own to shoot at a car show recently. (Actually two.) First stop for the older one was Thematic Photographic this week.

That must have been fun! I've never seen a Rolls close up. Hope you got to go for a ride.

Cheers!
