Verse and worse

Great-uncle Bryce was addicted to dice
He'd gamble his wages without thinking twice
He'd look for a contest when he went for his stroll
But he won lots of gold - he was always on a roll

It was not very nice
Of great Uncle Bryce
To fritter away
All he'd earned in a day.

His winnings were frittered
His home was littered
His wife chucked him out
And gave him a clout!

(There's a moral to this story!)

Uncle Bryce chose to avoid programs like Gamblers Anonymous. Too bad.

But a betting man's worse!
He relys on a horse...
but in view of this verse,
one would need to say hearse...

Oh, well, anyone can have an off day!

Eventually his finances reached a recession,
Not-so-great Bryce was in a depression,
For money, he'd go to the river bank,
To pluck some fish to sell on a plank.

Fancy him going for a ramble
And always having a gamble.
And wasn't he plucky?
And wasn't he lucky?
His wife said, "Go honey!
And make us lots of money!"
He said, "OK!
I'll do it today!"
So he took the piggy bank
But his heart just sank
'Cause he backed a looser
So he got drunk in the boozer
His wife said, "Were've yer been!"
He said, "We're broke, we ain't got a bean!"
