Cock-A-Doodle Don’t

Finally, It’s Dawned On Someone

A rooster crowing at the break of dawn has earned his owner a $260 fine in an Italian court after neighbours complained it was waking them up too early. The rooster's owner in Bolzano province said he would appeal against the sentence, supported by the local Farmers' Association, on the grounds that he needs at least one rooster to breed chickens.

I can see both sides. I'm not a morning person, and I'd probably be plotting the bird's death at some point. But then again, the guy needs the bird to breed, and maybe his lazy neighbors need to get up anyway. LOL!

Hi Shesawriter,

I think you have played devil's advocate brilliantly. I am a morning person - but I don't think I'd appreciate a rooster in the neighbourhood!

Do keep in touch

Hi Simon,

As a journalist, I have to ask the follow-up question ... what happened to them?

Pray, tell!

I think I've bought some roosters from a local meat shop. They were called very large chickens.
OTH, they didn't crow.

So, the farmer decided to play a game of chicken in court. Hurrah!

I understand the farmers situation, but if that thing woke me up too early I would slow roast it with BBQ sauce

Hmmm. And I’m sure his neighbors will respond with some absurdity such as that the farmer needs to reprogram his rooster’s awakening time to correspond to their awakening times. Humpf.
