I spent more than a day racking my brain (such as it is!) to try and think of some options for this week's theme, which is Flexible. Was there any inspiration? Nope. Nothing. Zilch. Nada. Not even the flicker of an idea. Then I was walking past the phone when I did a double-take. Yes, I was just like one of those cartoon characters. The cord, I told myself. The old-style telephone cord is just about the most flexible object we encounter every day. Reminds me of that classic movie - The Kink And I.

Flexibe indeed. and a fun photo to boot. :)
mine is up as well.
have a good weekend David!
Now that's really flexible. Great choice for the theme. Happy weekend :)
I so love your play on words David, how do you think them up? :)
If that thing's not already an antique, it will be soon.

Hi Corey,
On my way over to your site now ...
Keep smiling
David
Hi Liza,
Thank you. Had to rack my brains for it, though!

Hi Akelamalu,
Thank you, ma'am. Maybe my brain is just weighted to thin that way!

Hi Oswegan,
I'm looking around for one of the black bakelite phones with the rotary dial - want to photograph those next.

Another beautiful photo. What I really love is how you are able to take something that we see everyday and never notice and create a great photo with it.
Yep. That's indeed a flexible thingy. could make one mad easily, too ;-)
wonderful find for flexible theme!
have a great weekend!
Hi Queen,
Your comment really and truly warmed my heart.
Two years ago when I was photographing parts of Canada for the Canadian Tourism Commission, Allan Cook told me I shot things that they took for granted and turned them into reminders of everyday beauty.
Thank you for validating his view - which I try and honour every time I pick up a camera.
Have a great weekend
David
That is great! You are an incredible, and very funny writer, too!
Hi Snoopy,
We've all been wrapped up in telephone cords at one time or another!
Loved the final owl shot you posted.

David
Hi Mousey,
How lovely to hear from you again.
Thank you and I hope you have a great weekend.

Hi David,
I like this photograph it reminds me of the old fashioned phone that we used to have in the house when I was young. sara from farmingfriends
Hi Olivia,
My parents would be so proud to hear you say that.
I'm glad you like this site and yes, I find humour a wonderful companion.
Once again, my very humble thanks.
Do keep in touch
David
Hi Sara,
Thanks for visiting. You photo made me very envious for the water - as we have severe restrictions here because of drought.
Cheers
David
Vey flexible. Enjoy your weekend.
Great idea and great shot...
G'day Incog & Nito,
Took me a while to think of it, though!
Have a great weekend
David
Fabulous take on Flexible!
I wish I had thought of it!
Great play on words!
Let's hum again like we did last twitter.
You have spooned words i can only eat off. M. Milligan would jump back out of the water.
Thanks for pipping on to Adelaide et un bon week-end à vous
Very funny shot and cute title!
Thanks for visiting my NorthBayPhoto blog.
You know, I almost did that! Yours of course is a way better shot than mine would have been...well done!
wow! I really love that photo! kudos for such an interesting and unique picture!

I had a horrible time coming up with something, too. I love your shot.
Hey, You're an experienced blogger, and I saw on a forum that you said that you check out people's blogs and give them constructive criticism. I'm extremely new at this, but if you ever have the time, I'd love to get ANY feedback, as I really want to make my blog the best it can be. Thank you!
Ordinary object. Extraordinary photo (and post).
Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
That is very clever and creative which I suppose you must be since you are a writer and a photographer. It simply would never have occurred to me.
wow, what a great idea. You are so creative!! Have a wonderful Saturday, David.
David, you're half a helix short of DNA. Seriously, a very cool image.
I made it - only took 20 minutes to download your page - I have had a weekus horribulus this week trying to blog but am so glad you haven't given up on me.
Clever play on words - what fun.
Will save your page and read it tomorrow - I have a big "do" here to night so must away!!! Cheers
Wonderful find! Guess you were just being strung along with inspiration. Peace, JP/deb
That's a great choice for today! With all the cordless phones you don't see that kind of cord any more. One of our phones has a cord that will extend across the room when stretched out.
Love it!
Great take on the theme!! I used an everyday object also!
Happy Weekend!
I don't like cordless phones, I still use an old phone with the tangling cord. every now and then I have to untangle it. hehe.....
Now, your NEXT theme could be about the most UN-flexible thing you encounter each day, like, locked bathroom doors, parked-car bumpers, or maybe an early-morning, end-of-12-hour-shift policeman, directing a traffic jam.....
You did great! Worth half the afternoon:)
Mine is up here;
Photo Hunt:Flexible
Happy Weekend!
The Kink and I. Great unexpected ending to your post, made me laugh.
You came up with a great idea for the weekend. Well done.
A wonderful take on the theme. I'm convinced those things grow every time you take your eyes off them. Perhaps they have a wish to become double-helixed DNA! Far better than my effort at flexible.
what can be more flexible than telephone wire?!great entry for this week Theme!Happy HUNT!!
Excellent!! what a clever take on the theme!
Love the pic.
Have a lovely weekend, David :)
Not so easy this week. Good photo after all.
I haven't seen one of those cords in a long time. But I remember them well. Great choice for this week. Have a good weekend.
David, I love this picture for the theme! I bet some kids don't even know what that is. :P
Really great shot i love the colours of the background.
These things will soon be antiques and only be found in museums, oh how i will miss untangeling them.
Cheers mark
Telephone cords are certainly flexible. Cool photo.
I'm naturally flexible this week.
of course but I do not see many of those anymore and that is such a surprise to know
Hey David,
Yours looks like it's still in remarkably good nick! My Telstra standard issue used to end up with a big knotted ball of phone cord on the end of the handset. I gave up and went wireless!
Cheers,
Vic
Great idea!
I did my first ever photo hunt, come check it out if you get a chance!
This Flexible photo hunt has produced foci on lots of domestic, etc. items that people normally wouldn't think to photograph. Pretty cool, huh? :)
Great shot. It seems we both had the exact same epiphany LOL!!
Happy Sunday!
Damn, I haven't seen one of those in ages.
