Drove My Chevy, Drove My Chevy, Drove ...

I’ve Run Out Of Digits On The Odometer

Frank Oresnik is on the verge of making history in a pickup truck he says is about to pass the million-mile mark. His 1991 Chevrolet Silverado has had four radiators, three gas tanks, five transmissions and six water pumps, but the engine has never been overhauled. Oresnik bought the Silverado in June 1996 after the original owner put 41,000 miles on it. He uses the vehicle to deliver seafood in three states, putting on about 85,000 miles a year.

FOOTNOTE: Great pickup lines.

Wow, now I have a 2007 Chevy Colorado...beautiful truck...I hope it hangs around at least as long...and keeps its Candy Apple Red color! You're right, great pickup line...great line of pickups too, unlike my cousin's Ford (Found on Road Dead)

As my husband is an employee of Chevrolet, I must say this doesn't surprise me in the least!

"See the USA in your Chevrolet
America is asking you to call
Drive your Chevrolet through the USA
America's the greatest land of all
On a highway, or a road, along the levy
Performance is sweeter, nothing can beat her
Life is completer in a Chevy
So make a date today to see the USA
And see it in your Chevrolet"

** Is "completer" a word??

I heard this on the radio. No small achievement. My Honda only has 680120 or so to go to catch up. Truly, It has 319880. I have declared that I will not retire until it quits taking me to work. That means in two weeks or when I am 112.

Congrats to him. I haven't had good experiences with Chevies, myself. I'll stick with my Dodge/Chryslers, even if I know there'll be a tranny rebuild in there somewhere. My Intrepid was a dream that succumbed to Hurricane Katrina's flooding. Although it still ran like a dream & rode like a cloud, it smelled like a toxic sewer. I'll miss her...

I remember when my parents' Honda Civic passed the 100,000 mile mark. That odometer went from 99,999 back to all zeros. It was so cool.

And to think this guy has seen that happen WAY more then once. Amazing!

Wonder how in the world he "wore-out" THREE gas tanks? I think after Tank #1, I'd have been making some major undercoating work! Either that, or trying harder to dodge those road-hazards!

A million-miles---for any "normal" vehicle---is, indeed, a milestone. Of course, for an over-the-road semi-truck unit, that million is just "a walk in the park"!
