The Sunday Roast

A Napple A Day Keeps The Doctor Away

This week's interview is with Jinksy,
who writes the blog napple notes.

Here's the first of the standard questions. Why do you blog?

I blog because I eventually discovered that I could! My far flung relatives kept egging me on, after my niece joined Blogger.com last year, and on Christmas Day 2008, I finally took the plunge and signed up. As I'd been writing poems of one sort or another all my life, Blogging gave me a perfect place to display them, along with the opportunity of letting loose some of the verbal diarrhoea which has afflicted me for years.

What's the story behind your blog name?

There is a well known apple variety, at least in England, which bears the name Granny Smith. It's green, sharp and tasty and at the risk of telling the world my married name, no prizes for guessing the connection; my kids were tickled pink when they could at last dub me Granny Apple.

Come the time when first small granddaughter began to talk, I very soon became known to one and all as Napple - hence napple notes - with lower case characters, as I'm not too pushy - I hope.

What is the best thing about being a blogger?

Once Blogland begins opening its doors, it's soon evident what a great bunch of inhabitants already reside within its limitless boundaries; funny, warm-hearted, compassionate. You name it, somebody will supply it! And brainy? Wow! All sorts and conditions of erudite beings add their particular sparkle to punctuate the more humdrum among us.

What key advice would you give to a newbie blogger?

Advice? Would I teach my grandmother to suck eggs?! No way! Get stuck in and enjoy … or does that count as advice?

What is the most significant blog post you've ever read?

So many posts have huge significance when it is obvious that their writer has laid bare their very soul; far too many to choose one, for all show such courage and strength. It's really a case of "seek and ye shall find" if you're looking for one. Triumph over adversity rules! And if you're looking for light-hearted fun, or things of beauty, there are plenty of those posts around too.

What is the most significant blog post you've ever written?

Significance, like beauty, must remain in the eye of the beholder. It's not for me to assume any thing I've written comes under this heading…

Today's Sunday Roast with Jinksy is the 68th in a weekly series of interviews with bloggers from around the world.

Funny that for a while I was thinking she wrote *A NAPPY a day.....*
Wasn't sure what she meant! Silly me!

If it involves poetry, I'll have to go there.

I liked Jinsky's interview, 'tis a treat to read it here.

Anon, I'll come calling, to read the verse that she'll write.

And I thank David, for bringing this to light.

Hello Jinksy! A fun interview although she kept a lot close to her chest. I had often wondered how she arrived at the name, now I know.

Jinksy is such a sweet napple, it is true - and her orchard is full of fruit and wit and lots of wisdom to harvest...

Thank you for featuring her chaotic study and the cool, crisp interior of her mind, Sir!
