Verse And Worse

Random Wit, Errant Rhyme. Not A Literary Crime

He stood at the helm with his old telescope
Close to his feet were gunpowder and rope
The waves hit his vessel like mortar and pestle
The first mate and bosun engaged in a wrestle

What is a bosun? I do not know this term.

This one makes me think of the romantic version of pirates, not the ones now causing problems.

I think his first mate and bosun need to stop their wrestling and help! Looks like stormy weather ahead! Enjoyed this!

By Gum there weren't half an explosion!
The whole place was filled with alarm
For over the side went the sailor
With a cannon ball under each arm.
Do you think he'll be long?" said the boat's swain.
Gunner replied, "If as how,
He returns as quick as he left us!
Well he should be here anytime now!"
