Five O'Clock Shadow

No Room For Shady Characters

Photograph copyright: DAVID McMAHON

While the rest of the world gets colder, the weather is getting hotter here as we move closer to summer. As the mercury rises and the days get longer, there are great shadows just waiting to be photographed. This sight stopped me in my tracks, because the triangular shadow on this metallic wall was a perfect foil for the horizontal lines which cast miniature shadows of their own.

I like the simplicity of this picture. Also I like your fiery dawn. You're right with what you said that it looks like fire rising up the hill. Lucky you heading into summer. It's wet and miserable here and dark by 4 o'clock in the afternoons.

Hi David:

It is clean and simple and very affective! I don't envy the heat of summer just the length of the days as Mike said - it gets dark very early.

Thank you for coming by the Budapest blog. Today there is a night shot of the Operetta Theater in front of which sits the statue of Mr. Kalman. As I've read the theater's website, I see they are celebrating his 125th anniversary.

Very interesting how such a plain, everyday subject can become a great photo. You are very good at doing this, and it is a great achievement. It really makes people slow down and think.
