Aussiejourno's Weekly Blog Awards

Top Blogs For Week Ending 9 June

Aussiejourno's Weekly Blog Awards are meant to encourage bloggers from all round the world and they give new bloggers the chance to get their work noticed in an increasingly popular forum, alongside the world's most-visited blogs.

There is no monetary reward, no live TV coverage, no red carpet interview, but the exposure comes with international bragging rights. If you would like your blog (or someone else's) to be considered for next week's awards, please leave the url here, in the comment section. You can nominate as many blogs as you want. Entries close at midday Greenwich Mean Time each Friday.

In conclusion, I would just like to say I've been mentoring several bloggers for a while and it is important to know that the work of a blogger whose url has only 10 hits can be ranked alongside a blogger whose url has 10,000 hits or more. I would like other would-be writers and bloggers to benefit from the fact that I am a bestselling novelist (`Vegemite Vindaloo', published by Penguin) and career journalist with almost 30 years' experience in writing, editing, design, newspaper technology and production.

1st place! I don't know what to say, except, THANK YOU!

Thank you not only for the ranking, but also for all the work you put into your awards, and for giving us a heads up on so many great blogs.

Hi Stacy,

And from memory, you've been in the top five since the Awards started, which is amazing.

Congratulations on being No.1. It's so well deserved.

As for the work I put into the Awards - it's a lot of fun, but you know that!

Cheers

David

Hey thanks ... it was after 2am at the end of the day when Belgium went to the polls ... after 3 days spent on Flanders Field commemorating the 90th anniversary of the Battles of Passendael and Mesen (Messines) and I find my blog there on your list.

A nice end to a busy few days :)

Hi Di,

No worries at all. Sounds like you had a terrific (if sombre) time.

Look forward to reading about your experiences.

By the way, there is a story I was privileged to report a few months ago, about an Indian RAF fighter pilot (``Tiger'' Rajan) who died in Normandy the day Paris was liberated.

His is the only Hindu grave in the little village in Normandy. Fascinating story and it was a memorable experience drawing all the loose end together, 60 years after he was shot down.

There are some posts on my blog in the third week of November, I think - and the whole story is published on Terry Fletcher's wonderful Anglo-Indian Portal.

I'd love to know what you think of the yarn.

Cheers

David

Hey David,

Thank you. I feel I don't deserve this place this week, cuz there has just been too much stuff, and my posts have been few and far between, but thank you very much.

What a morale booster you are!

:-)

I've been posting remotely and not too well this week - in between two trips! Anyway, I rose one position.

Even though this is a late check-in - thanks for the reference and I hope you're still having fun with so many blogs to review!!!

Your effort is appreciated.

That's a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG list . . . Glad to be on it, and ranked so high : D

I noticed that Lady T is on the list also. Watch out for her, she is a hard hitter . . . as you already should know.
