Wintry Melbourne Gets Its Colour Back
Photograph copyright: DAVID McMAHONI shot this picture around midday yesterday, a few minutes' drive from where I live. The plant is called Tradescantia Zebrina but it is more commonly known as Wandering Jew. It's generally used as ground cover, but tends to grow profusely, especially if left unchecked. This one had not cut back, so it was actually taking over a nearby shrub. The stem in this photograph was probably a metre high, so it's already starting to dominate its neighbour.

Wow we only use it as a houseplant here in the UK. Another great title David; a play on Sheb Wooley's classic methinks :o)
