That Compulsive Easting Just Gets My Goat
You think you're having a bad day? A German farmer lost 10,000 Euros ($13,500) when it was eaten by Steffi, his goat. Martin Radlberger, 34, from Rosenheim in Germany left the notes on the kitchen table when he went to answer the phone. But when he returned he Steffi just finishing off the last crisp new note of the money he wanted to use to buy a tractor. Radlberger immediately called a vet, who performed an emergency operation on the animal. "Now I have almost all my money back, and Steffi has had a hard lesson" the farmer says, adding that the vet had kept three of the soggy 100 Euro notes to pay for the surgery.
FOOTNOTE: The cash musta been a tractor attracter.

Damn, that critter must have swallowed them whole. Hilarious. Easier than waiting at the other end to see what comes out.
G'day FHB,
That's exactly what I was thinking when I read it. Gotta give the guy credit for thinking of the vet!
Hope the bloke enjoys his tractor!

It must of been more plastic-y money like our notes (Australian) instead of the yanky paper notes or else it never would of lasted a goats stomach. I'f i lost that much I'd probably just curl up in the fetal position and cry.
Wait hang on, what the hell was the goat doing in the house.
Unless it's wearing a nappy (diaper), what the heck is a goat doing around the house, anyway? Amazing presence of mind to think of how to retieve his cash, though, eh?
Hi Your Eminence,
Fair point, mate. A paper note would have been in a pretty shredded state!
A Pope in a foetal position? There's a mental picture! Even more intriguing than why the goat was in the house in the first place!

Hi Carol,
Precisely - why have a goat in the house? There's something there I haven't been able to pinpoint!
Yes, a great way to retrieve the cash indeed!
Not sure I'd have had the, er, stomach for it!

Hahaha I have heard goats will eat anything.
My parents once rescued a dog that was particularly fond of small metal items (ut-oh) X-ray's of her stomach revealed one beautiful engagement ring & a set of keys, as well as several coins (from previous owner)
I hope the farmer learned a lesson also like not having a goat in the house and not leaving money laying around. This sure gave me a laugh!!
Funny story. I'm surprised the goat went to the vet instead of just being slaughtered on the spot.
A family pet?
Hi skinnylittleblonde,
Love the story about the dog. I'm guessing no vet ever had to cut her open to retrieve the ring!
Maybe the dog was always on his/her mettle/metal!

Hi Dot,
Especially the lesson about never having a goat loose in the house!
Might have been mutton dressed as lamb!

Ewwwwww....my little sister ate my charm bracelet on my 6th birthday....I'm so glad they didn't cut her open!
Hi Singleton,
Lovely to hear from you. However, like the true journalist that I am, I want to know - who was more affected by the experience, you or your sister?

Sorry I go AWOL from the computer on the weekend, David, but I've got a good story on this topic for you...
A kid comes running into the room to tell his dad that his little brother has swallowed ten cents. The dad picks up the little kid and shakes him upside down, and after a few seconds, a dime falls out of the kid's mouth. Dad tells the older brother, Thanks for telling me, your brother will be okay now.
"But dad! He swallowed ten pennies!!"
