Photograph copyright: DAVID McMAHONThese gazanias in our garden just look after themselves - and they're a riot of colour at the moment, as we enjoy the first week of spring. In the last fortnight of winter, gardens around the city are a riot of purple and orange, thanks to the hardy gazanias, which I think are also called "treasure flowers". This is an interesting shot, because you'll actually see a sheen on some of the petals on the right, almost giving them a plastic-like quality.

Beautiful flowers! I have these in flower still in purple, white and yellow (I call them osteospermums) and have managed to get them through our winter. Enjoy your Spring...things are cooling down here and the nights getting longer...our Autumn is definitely in the air.
