Yes, Acoustics Can Be Fun
An acoustics expert is conducting science's silliest experiment - to find the world’s funniest whoopee cushion. Professor Trevor Cox has set up a website where visitors hear six trumpeting noises and are asked to grade them. When he's not designing concert halls, he likes to spend his time studying the funnier side to sound.

David...you never cease to amaze me at the things you come up with.
Testing Whoopie Cushions! LOL
Just when you think you've heard it all, here comes David!
I agree. Where do you find these little gems? Although my kids would be impressed with this one.
For some people, the noise is also very interesting music. Hehe ...: D

Fascinating!
Oh great, there will probably be millions of dollars put in the next stimulus package here for more of those studies....please don't let them hear about it here!!!!
I have no words. Just laughter.
I wonder what the scientific criteria for "funny" is.
No way... Someone is getting paid for this.
Sorry, but the noise is funny, no need for a study. And it is funny in the 'whoopee cushion' context because the joke is on someone else. We are cruel we humans.
Your latest post is not coming up for me:
I bought my nephew a whoopie cushion at christmas time last year and it was the hit of the party. Of course being 5 he had no idea what it was.
You are an absolute classic! Lol!
Are you sure you only spend an hour on your blog???
You are a genius,David - a really funny one at that. :D
Whoopie cushions - bathroom humour at its best! One of the funniest videos I've seen was of a televangelist whose video-taped sermon was edited to include fart sounds and then posted to youtube. I laughed until the tears rolled down my face! It still brings a chuckle whenever I think of it.
Now if Whoopi Goldberg married Peter Cushing she would be Whoopi Cushing.
I hope he didn't get a Goverment Grant to do it!
