Coast Guarded

Will They Move The Dungeons Too, Squire?

Castles on Britain’s coast could be moved inland, brick by brick, to save the coastal heritage from climate change. The government is considering ways to protect a number of historic properties threatened by rising sea levels and historic monuments could be moved in exceptional circumstances to a "more sustainable location".

We have already moved a lighthouse inland, on the south coast. :-)

This disassembled castle story made me think of The Ghost Goes West, one of my favourite oldies.

And of course our economy can sustain this when it sustains nothing else and unemployment rises... pffffttthhhht.

I love castles and history as much as the next person. But honestly! Where does it end?

I would rather they invested the money preventing erosion, as Eddie says, so many people lose their homes every year down to this.

Somehow, I can't see them moving Bamburgh Castle and if they dare try, they'll have me to answer to!!
