It's All About Perspective, Innit?

Here's A Pictorial Challenge For You

Photograph copyright: DAVID McMAHON

Here's a challenge. You have five seconds to try and figure out what this picture depicts. Okay, your time is up! Sure, you would have realised that the image shows three buildings reflected in the bonnet (hood, for some of my readers) of a parked vehicle. They're not just any buildings. The most prominent one is the gigantic Eureka Towers here in Melbourne, the tallest building in the southern hemisphere. To get a different perspective on this shot, go to the post Tall Story dated 16 February, when I posed a not-so-simple challenge.

David,

Hood - got it. Thank you for the translation.

Hood... not to be confused with "hoodie", which is part of a sweatshirt that you wear on your head.

Hi Deborah,

It's a bit like trucks=lorries; sidewalk=footpath; four-wheel-drive= SUV.

Not that any of you needed the translation!

Keep smiling

Hi Darlene,

Ah yes, big distinction! Boys 'n da 'hood just doesn't have the same connotation as boys 'n da hoodie.

Cheers

David

David,

Don't be so sure I don't need such translations. Trucks are lorries? Paved sidewalks are footpaths?

I did not know.

Hi Deborah,

DH would appreciate this translation. In every Australian state, a ``stubby'' is a standard-size can of beer (ie, same size as a can of Coke or Fanta) but up in the Northern Territory (where much of the Crocodile Dundee outback scenes were filmed) a stubby is about the size of a fire hydrant!

Yep, about the size of the mascot that DH is still trying to get over!

Much cheer and hilarity to you, DH and the kids.

Keep smiling

David
