Horse Sense

Going Round And Round In Circles

Photographs copyright: DAVID McMAHON

They had never met before. She knew who the medium was, but he had no idea about her, or about her family background. All he knew was what she did for a living.

But shortly after their paths crossed for the first time, he said that he sensed the presence of her deceased father. He said he got the distinct impression that her father had spent part of his life working with horses. But he also told her that he got the distinct impression that her father had never actually owned the animals, or ridden them, or had ever trained racehorses.

It might sound strange, but the medium was absolutely right. The woman’s father had been an artisan. In his time he had created horses for fairground carousels.

I've always wondered that if merry-go-rounds go around and round and the circle never stops are you really suppose to get off, and if so at what point?

That's a really neat little story to go with those pictures. They are fantastic too. There used to be a wonderful merry-go-round at a local shopping mall. It was actually inside the building. Your pictures make me want to go ride it again.

Cheers!

I have a few carousel shots as well. Something about them and their history that is intriguing. Nice work.

You don't think about someone painting merry-go-round horses as a job.

Horses on a carousel trigger wonderful memories.
Especially, I think,little girl memories.

Horsing around again with those puns. Critters is no time for for horseplay. These images do transport you back to childhhood.

So are we supposed to ask who the woman is?

Love those shots. Carousels are so cool.

Maybe the reason why I find Carousel horses Spooky is because the motion made me throw up as a kid, and my horse threw me.

Spooky how that story turned out! Great shots of the horses.

Awesome post! This is one of my favorites of your CCs yet!

I apologize for not being around on a regular basis lately, David. Life has become hectic. I recently was offered a very good full-time position, and, after doing some alterations to my current three jobs... I now how four jobs and am attending college online (Yes, I must be absolutely insane). Anyway, I just wanted to explain why I haven't be around as much - I'm hoping I find a routine soon.
