There’s A Bounty On His Head

No, Maybe There’s A Mountie On His Head

Photographs copyright: DAVID McMAHON

It wasn’t quite the scene in Northern Exposure, where Morty the Moose wandered in pensive fashion through the shot. But there I was, walking through the city of Whitehorse, capital of the Yukon – and sure enough, there was a moose in front of me.

Not a live moose, mind. But just as thousands of tourists before me must surely have done, I made sure I had the right angle to get the shot of the moose dressed in the uniform of a Mountie.

Yes, I had a flight to catch, but I wasn't going to miss this shot for anything. It wasn’t a cop-out.

Bullwinkle, it's you!

You always were my hero and not that silly flying squirrel you hung around with. (Preposition Police, look the other way!)

Great shot, David. Glad you paused and risked missing your plane for this one.

I did a double take when I saw this mountie moose - I took a photo of his double in beautiful Victoria, Vancouver Island :) I wonder just how many tourists have photos of these guys in their snaps??

That is one different picture. To think in my visits to Canada I never saw one.
Thanks for your visit to my blog and your extra nice comment.

Ha Ha nice. We had the real thing in the back yard last night minus the red coat of course. Since we now have over 2ft of snow the moose are coming down from the mountains and we will see a lot around here again this winter.

I love the show Northern Exposure. It's quirkiness is so engaging. Unfortunately even though I get over 100 channels on my satellite TV, none of the have Northern Exposure.

Oh yes, Northern Exposure. I loved that show...it was a bit of a cult favourite over here, took a season or two to take.

Loved the photo.

Omg. A moose in uniform, hold me back! He's cute enough to make me forget Paul Gross in "Due South!"

I wonder if Mr. Moose would come over and watch "North of 60" reruns with me. I promise to keep Sarah Palin away. There will be honey cinnamon toast. C'mon, Handsome, I'm waitingggg....
