The Law Is An Asp

Who Are You Blokes? Slitherin?

About a thousand Indian snake charmers have staged a rally in protest against a law that declares their profession illegal. Playing their distinctive flutes, they marched in Calcutta, demanding the right to perform with live snakes. Animal rights groups say the ban will curb the abuse of snakes.

As a Snake myself, according to Chinese astrology, I feel I should be on their side, but can't hold back a shudder - don't like the look of 'em!

Well I am at a loss for words over this one... Don't like snakes but it's their tradition...

As Jinksy I am a snake, but I do like snakes. It is the exploitation of animals that I generally do not like. I'm not sure if the snakes suffer from the charming?

Possibly the lawmakers were concerned for their own safety? After all, where else will you find such a collection of snakes as in a governmental body?

On a less glib note, I should think that the snakes in those baskets are probably well enough cared for -- after all, the charmers do rather depend on them for their livelihood hai na?

I don't see how they're any worse than the snake handlers we er, try to ignore here in Appalachia. Although in that case the rattlers do usually get their own back.
Sometimes your tags and titles are funnier than the commentary.
