Signs Of The Times

The World At Their Feet

An English couple who cleared out the attic of their new home discovered the floor was made of £20,000 worth of antique railway signs. Ian and Lynda Spires noticed the names of towns and cities underneath their feet as they emptied the attic. A previous owner is thought to have taken the inch-thick boards when they were scrapped at the end of the 1960s.

I hear this kind of story too often. It seems that a lot of people don't have any idea the treasures lying about. I rescued Winnie the Pooh, with the original illustrations, from a yard sale yesterday.

I must have picked up this railway vibe when I wrote my post this morning!

Several years after my sister and her husband bought their older home, they began remodeling it. And they ended up finding thousands of dollars worth of old coins and money. It helped a lot with their home renovations! :) Unfortunately, that's never happened to me and my husband.

I keep wondering when it will be my turn to stumble across a treasure like that!

Because we usually get an illustrative picture from you, I find myself particularly wanting to see this interesting floor!

Well, if this doesn't get me clearing out the attics, nothing will (I'll even split the cash with you if I turf anything up, Scout's honour)!
