James Bond He Ain't

This Time, He's The Target

An armed police hunt was launched in the UK after a Kent man was spotted with a fake gun on his way to a fancy dress party. He was awoken by armed officers at 3am after they tracked his car through a roadside number plate recognition system and traced him back to his own address.

FOOTNOTE: Trigger factor.

Did they know it was a fake gun or did they assume it was a proper one?

Back to the over zealous British again! Well there is plenty of fodder out there.

I suppose I'd rather be safe than sorry. What scares me is that it took until 3am to get to him.

I learn something new every day. Do you mean to tell me that 'awoken' is a real word? All this time I thought it was 'woked-up.' You're so smart.

"roadside number plate recognition system !!!

Oh boy, we are way past "1984", aren't we? Scary.

On the other hand, how in the world can anybody nowadays still try to make a joke with a fake weapon?

If I had that happen it would probably p...s me off a bit, but in a weird way I'd feel it kind of reassured me at least we take our public safety seriously. Shrug.
