Aussiejourno's Weekly Blog Awards are meant to encourage bloggers from all round the world and they give new bloggers the chance to get their work noticed in an increasingly popular forum, alongside the world's most-visited blogs. There is no monetary reward, no live TV coverage, no red carpet interview, but the exposure comes with international bragging rights. If you would like your blog (or someone else's) to be considered for next week's awards, please leave the url here, in the comment section. You can nominate as many blogs as you want. Entries close at midday Greenwich Mean Time each Friday.
And a big thank you to Professor Joel Bush of Arkansas, who was the first guest judge of the Awards. He adjudicated last week's Awards.

In conclusion, I would just like to say I've been mentoring several bloggers for a while and it is important to know that the work of a blogger whose url has only 10 hits can be ranked alongside a blogger whose url has 10,000 hits or more. I would like other would-be writers and bloggers to benefit from the fact that I am a bestselling novelist (`Vegemite Vindaloo', published by Penguin) and career journalist with almost 30 years' experience in writing, editing, design, newspaper technology and production.

THANKS Dave! I WILL try to do fresh drawings for my blog asap! I have a writing assignment due in next Friday. Actually it was due YESTERDAY but I got an extension. Phew! After that, I'll do some sketches to relax. I shall need it!
Thanks for the encouragement/push. (needed badly).
Helena

Aye Aye David . . .

Ak-Man
OOOH, OOOH - I'm stunned. I really am, I thought the awards were off this week. Top of the world, ma!!
David, I'm speechless - thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Sweet.. I made the top five this week! Whew, all those efforts did pay off.
thanks David!
Cecilia
Hey David. I'm glad you still like my blogs after your short break. So thanks for the mentions as always.
Also, I didn't remember that you were born in Calcutta until you mentioned it. I would be very interested in hearing your perspective of "Born Into Brothels" as someone who is familiar with the city. It's a great film and I highly recommend it.
Well have a wonderful weekend and I'll talk to you later!
Hi BTBear,
Fantastic to see you back in the top 10. It's always a pleasure to read your blog.
And I think your Mum does a remarkable job as well.
Good luck
David
Hi Helena,
Looking forward to seeing some more of your work. You have many talents and I'm so glad you told me about this blog.
It's been a long time since I've done any artwork, so it was great to see the quality of your stuff.
Good luck with the assignment.
Cheers
David
Hi there Ak-Man,
And from memory you started at No.40, so you've had a remarkable climb in a very short time.
I'm looking forward to your new projects and new features on the blog. The good thing about this list is the spirit of mutual encouragement.
Don't worry, mate, I won;t let you get lazy!
Ask Bart, he'll tell you I keep on his case!
Cheers buddy. Enjoy the weekend.
David
Hi Carol,
There is no need to thank me. People get on the Awards because of the quality of their work.
I'm just privileged to be able to judge this work regularly.
And an added benefit is the spirit of camaraderie that evolves among members of the group.
That said, congratulations from the bottom of my heart.
You're No. 1 on a very closely-contested list. Fantastic work.
Cheers
David
Hi Cecilia,
Fabulous stuff. And the honour is so richly deserved.
It's always a pleasure to read the warmth and sincerity of your prose.
Take care. have a good weekend.
Keep smiling
David
G'day Buscador,
And it's another double triumph for you, yet again. Both your blogs are on the list once more.
Had never heard of the movie until I saw your review. Sounds like a terrific piece of work.
Shall definitely check it out and let you know. By the way, you'll find a lot of my writing about my Calcutta childhood on Terry Fletcher's Anglo-Indian Portal (sse the link to his site on my blog).
Well done, yet again. I'm so proud to be able to judge such amazing work by some many gifted bloggers.
Have a great weekend.
David
Interesting idea, and it's led me to a lot of fun things I wouldn't otherwise have found... thank you.
Including a blog which used cat pictures sarcastically. Yowsa.
Hey cool beaners! I'm holding down
spot 25 and getting cozy! I do want
the 737 that guy left in the road.
Would make a nice mobile home.
Cheers,
Doug : )
What the heck...
Hi David, I found your blog through Jenera's a couple of week's ago... and have been stopping back by ever since. I'd love you to take a look at mine sometime.
Hi David and all fellow bloggers.
Thanks for the visits and keeping me on the list. I think Carol of Shrink-wrapped screen really earned her first place this week!
I made business cards of my blog and pass them out to family and friends... and basically anyone I think may be interested in blogging. The blog card is one of my past blog entries... anyone who wants to copy the idea feel free.
ha-ha-ha-ha!
I typed "Shrink-wrapped screen"! Instead of "Shrink-wrapped scream". Now I'm envisioning my monitor wrapped in Saran Wrap.
ha-ha-ha!
Hi Chertiozhnik,
Thanks for dropping by and taking the trouble to leave a comment.
Glad you found some interesting sites there, It's always great fun doing the judging.
Hope to see you back here again.
Cheers
David
Hi Doug,
Nice to hear from you. I think the new look on your site works really well.
Yes, the 737 would be cool, but not as much fun as a scooter.
Cheers
David
Hi Darlene,
No problem at all. Just something I enjoy doing!
Let's have a look at the e-version of your card. Post it on your blog - please!
Cheers
David
Hi Darlene,
Laughed at your vision of Saran wrap. We could call up Christo for you, the guy who artistically ``wraps'' coastlines and monuments.
Remember him?
David
David,
Thank you for the incredibly favorable ranking. I have found some great blogs (and friends) from your site. I love it!
Debbie
Hi David,
A scooter is alot of fun but a 737
is so much roomier. That is unless
you're flying on Southwest Airlines!
Cheers,
Doug
Hi Deborah,
There's no need to thank me. My reward is simply seeing the improvement in others' blogs - and the fact that so many bloggters on that list actually support each other and encourage each other.
After all, it's all about confidence and a willingness to experiment, isn't it?
Congratulations on the ranking, Deborah.
David
Nice one, Doug!
Strange to think that the 737s started operating in the late 60s and early 70s.
That's a mighty long time for an airborne Vespa!
Cheers
Hi Megan R,
Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment. Yes, I'll surely have a look at your site.
No problem at all.
Cheers
David
Congratulations on the success of your book. :)
I'll add it it my list.
Hi Dave,
Many thanks. That's very kind of you.
Must familiarise myself with your site again.
Cheers
David
Wow,I'm shocked to find myself in the honorable mention of your blog rankings, David. Thank you very much for that honor. I'm still looking for the right pictures to post on my blog, and will let you know when I have them up.
Regards,
John

Hi David
Thanks for mention my blog on your raking: I very glad with my position. Have a wonderful week. See you
Scala
http://wwwscala.blogspot.com/
Hi whodatdare (John)
Thank you for acknowledging that. Your blog is on the list because it deserves to be there.
Great work. Keep it up.
Cheers
David
Hi Scala,
I really enjoy your blog. I think you do a great job with it.
Have a wonderful week.
David
I'd like to unblushingly nominate myself ---

Cheers,
Chertiozhnik
Hi Chertiozhnik,
Got that nomination. No worries.
Good luck
David
Hi, I'd like to nominate my blog again, having taken your earlier advice to heart.
http://gun-totin-wacko.blogspot.com/
Thanks.
Hey there David,
Please can I nominate the post "Rituals" for the BOTW awards?
Cheers!
http://shrinkwrappedscream.blogspot.com/

Hi David,
Was sure happy with #3 last week, can I nominate me again for this week, and also a good friend?:
Exiting The Nuthouse
http://inthenuthouse.blogspot.com
Oh yeah, we are finally enjoying the sun and nice weather in Canada.
Deb
Hi David,
Hmmmm...
Am I late for this ?
I can see the topic of 737 is still in the air ;)
And thanks for sharing those wonderful blogs. Just started visiting them. :)
Can I still nominate someone? A newbie, I think. Least, I've only just found it!!
It's called "The 365 Project".
It's described as "A (mostly) New York City photoblog"
Take a look- it's stunning.
:^)
Yeah, ok, it WOULD help a tad if I gave the url, huh?
http://ianqui365.blogspot.com
Sorry!
Hi Dave,
WOW! I got in the top 50! Thanks for the favourable ranking, there are some great blogs out there.
One question: do you need to re-submit your site to have it entered again, or do last week blogs automatically go back into the draw?
Thanks again, keep up the good work.
David
davids-pics.blogspot.com
Thanks, Helena,
Loved the site - as you can see.
David
Hi David,
generally I'll always review a site that is in the mix from the previous week - but it's always good to ensure I don;t miss anything by giving me a url again.
Just jogs the memory!
Cheers and good luck
David
