One-Way Street Is The Last Resort

It would be hard to confuse Tish and Lyle Ashley's three-bedroom ranch-style Missouri home with a 150-acre vacation resort. But for the past two years, a lot of visitors have done just that. They've pulled their caravans, trailers and boats up the Ashleys' one-way street and become stuck, thanks to wayward directions from the computer search engine MapQuest. ``It's been going on for two or three years,'' Trish Ashley said. "We've had them from Nebraska, Wisconsin, Chicago and Minnesota.'' Even trucks trying to make deliveries to the resort have ended up on her street.

People are getting into trouble over here, relying on 'sat nav' rather than reading a map or using, God forbid, their EYEBALLS.

Hence tiny villages are being flooded with traffic as they come up as being on the most direct route. There was a story the other week about lots of lorries getting stuck in a country lane- there was only enough room for one lane of traffic at the best of times, but a car can pull over onto the bit of verge to let another pass, whereas a truck can't.

When the steep bends came up, they all got stuck. HAHAHAHA.

Sorry, shouldn't laugh.

Oh the hell with it:
HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!

Yup. My very own bikers give that same sorry old excuse, every time they haul their sad old bums down my drive, too. Funny how it always seems to coincide with tt week.

Ah well, eh?

Hi BTBear,

I liked the story, some months ago, about the couple using SatNav who drove into a river because the system didn't ``tell'' them to take a ferry!

Cheers

You'd think they'd spring the couple of bucks it would cost to put a nice big sign at the front of the street to say "This is not how you get to (wherever)."

That's what I'd do, anyway.
