A US shopkeeper has been warned that he could be jailed for his unusual way of dealing with shoplifters. The Colorado off-licence owner told thieves he'd call the police unless they gave him one of their shoes. But police told him his punishment counted as robbery, whereas shoplifting was merely a misdemeanour.

Oh, yes---I can see why this would be an extreme case of punishment for stealing! Guess the man should whack-'em up side the head, so that way they've got a "leg to stand on" when the law arrives! Yeah, I can see where it really violates their rights!
There are still many parts of the world in todays' "modern" times, where the punishment for stealing can cause you to lose something more tangible than a SHOE!(Like that fella on Easter Island, with the "ear-chip" a few months back!)
