Quit Clowning Around, Dear

With This (Circus) Ring I Thee Wed

A Welsh clown gave his most nerve-racking performance - by proposing to his girlfriend in a circus ring in Colwyn Bay. He said going down on one knee in front of 500 people was tough. "I was really frightened she’d say no, but luckily after a few seconds she said yes, and the audience clapped and cheered."

FOOTNOTE: Tough act to follow.

Talk about a 3 .. no, with this proposal it would be a 4 ring circus, with the soon-to-be Mrs Clown in the center ring!

Cute story ... i think I wouldn't dare to say no if there were that many people watching!

Yes, Eternally Distracted is right, it would be difficult to say no in that circumstance!

Good thing he decided against the buzzer enhanced ring.

At least that clown knew that would have been a really bad idea.

To be a clown he must be a pretty confident guy so I guess he had no fear she would say no....novel proposal, I love it. xv

Fans of the local NHL team frequently propose during hockey games at RBC Center here. The event is always followed on the giant monitors on the scoreboard at center ice, and even the team mascot gets in on the act -- in tux, tails and top hat. But every time I see a proposal done that publicly I think to myself "Man, I hope you were sure before you planned this..." I can't think of anything more crushing than to be turned down on the Jumbotron in front of 19,000 people.

I've also often wondered how many times the decision has been reversed upon video review after the fact.

I suppose it would have been humiliating to say no!
Trouble is..... you'd never really know if the lady just didn't like to hurt him & felt pressurized to accept. Come to think of it though, no girl would sacrifice her life like that!

I can't bear public proposals! I hope that he was fairly certain that she would accept; otherwise, how awful for everyone.

Well, that's one way to do it! haha

Man, how hideous would it be to be a clown and have her turn down your proposal? I suppose you could make like it was part of the act and maybe get some laughs, but...

Hopefully he had a plan B to make it look like part of the act if she turned him down. Are they going to have the wedding as part of the circus too? I hope they have some time just to themselves.

So sweet. Just as well she didn't put a pie in his face.

Well, I guess if the circus is your thing, then your girlfriend might find that proposal romantic. Hmm...

Yeah - it's sweet (after I get past the awkwardness of the image of a clown proposing). ;)

Was he just clowning around?
