Bye, Bye, Blackbird

Oi, Granny, Lose Ya Tweety Birds

Mate, they’re not larking about. A British great-grandmother has been admonished by her local council - over the sound of birdsong in her garden. Dorothy Berry, 65, of Fulham, West London, said, "I have a lovely garden in which the blackbirds sing in the trees. But I really don't see what we can do about that." A spokesman for Hammersmith and Fulham Council said: "We are aware that this matter has ruffled a few feathers. But we must investigate all complaints from residents - however bizarre they may appear."

FOOTNOTE: Will the movie version be called `The Godfeather’?

Hi Merisi,

Hmmmm - remember the old nursery rhyme, ``four and twenty blackbirds, baked in a pie''.

If Granny isn' careful, that's what they might do to her birds!

Fulham residents! I've known far too many of them, thanks for reminding me what a good move we made to leave Putney (the opposite road fell in the boundary of Fulham). Life is simply far too short.

"Oi, Granny..." - excellent Hammersmith and Fulham accent, where did that come from?

Wen we moovd in we bort a bird-tabol an sum feeders. Mummy feeds the berds evry day. We giv them seed, but also she mixes up oats an froot fer the starlins, blakberds etc.

This yeer we hav got songthrushes fer the ferst time an the larst few weeks weev got lots ov goldfinches. They are small but hav gold an red on them. They mayke a sownd like china bells goin k-ding k-ding k-ding!

ENYWAY our MAD nayber put string along the top ov his fence- he akchewally put nails in the posts, abowt one inch tall and tied the sting to them as it went along the top ov the fence. He wantid to stop the berds sittin on it.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAhahahahaaha!

Mum haz cort them spyin on her behind the curten wen she puts out the food. They don't like the berds.

OK yu mite not like the berds. But a bit ov string?

The berds just sit on it.

Hi Chertmeister,

I knew you'd pick up the subtlety of the accent. I'm very good at Hammersmith and Putney accents!

Hi BTBear,

Bit worried about your neighbours! Love the birds' solution.

Wonder who the real birdbrains are.
