Even as snow continues to blanket the state, I've been having a lot of fun with my camera. Yes, it's easy to photograph strong colours in bright sunlight, but my self-imposed challenge was to take a decent shot in bad light. There was a stark beauty to this fruit tree, with its branches like skeletal witches' fingers. I shot this under a grey sky, in a steady drizzle. Yet I saw beauty in the barren sight - and I hope you do too. In three weeks' time, this tree will be covered in starbursts of pink blossoms. But today, as the snowmen dominate the landscape, it is appropriate to note that we are halfway through winter. By the way, look carefully and you'll see the moisture droplets on the closest branch.

Hi David
Thanks for the words of encouragement.
The funny thing is the number of visitors to YesBut’s Images is increasing weekly, but they don’t leave captions, which is a shame. I have made a small adjustment to the page, in the hope people are encouraged to leave captions.
Re the link - you might recall that I left a message a few weeks ago that when you leave a comment the link is to your profile and not to your site, (I recall you saying you were going to take a look at it at the weekend). I don’t know what settings you’ll have to twig.
Hi Yesbut,
Have replied to this on your blog. To summarise my reply - it's great to know you;re getting more hits as this, in turn, will slowly lead to more comments.
One leads to the other. So persist. Don;t give up when your traffic is increasing.
Persist ..... if I thought the project was devoid of inspiration or hope, I'd be the first person to suggest changes.
You;ve got the formula right. Now you just need to be patient.

"Polar, Bare" he sez.
sff..sf.sf....ssff...ssssfff..
there wassent wun.
DON'T TEEZ THE BEAR!
Sorry if this sounds mundane, but that is a lovely shot and I immediately thought, "That would make a really stylish Christmas Wrapping paper design."
Er... sorry for that "C" word, too.
;^)
Exquisite shot. Was it monochromatic or are those the actual colours?
Rene.
To me that's a good shot...hard to photograph against a bright sky.
You probably don't have ice storms there, but they make good bare tree limb shots too. The way ice encapulates the branches is a marvel in itself.
It never ceases to catch me off guard that while I am melting in the heat, and residing in what feels like a tropical rain forest, that it is winter over there for you!
SNOW? Oh yea, other side of the planet, water in the comode spirals the other way round and stuff. Gotcha. Yep ,purdy. You should see our trees after and Ice storm though. Beautiful.
I LOVE this photo David!
Hi BTBear and Helena,
Sorry if I got BTBear's hopes up. Okay, no more bear puns - ever!
And Helena, I think that's an excellent idea.
If you want to use it for wrapping paper, go ahead. No worries at all.
I think it'd look great, too.

Hi Rene,
Those are the actual colours. What you see is exactly what I shot.

Hi FHB,
Yes, you;re sure right about the water spirals.
Mushy also told me about the ice storms. Will have to come to the US with my camera!
