I would like other would-be writers and bloggers to benefit from the fact that I am a bestselling novelist (`Vegemite Vindaloo', published by Penguin) and career journalist with almost 30 years' experience in writing, editing, design, newspaper technology and production.

And honourable mentions go to:

Aquarius2626, David's Pics, Unforeseen Paths, Prof Bush, Copper Stiletto, Terry's Playpen, Pope Terry, Kalyan's Dreams, Near Post, Colorado Bob, Chalkhills Collective, Chess World, Lensational, Ubertramp, Allan Cook, I'm On My Weigh Down, Daub du Jour, Chele 76, Movies Sans Frontiers, Pasture Musings, Mur 38, Sandip Madan, Who Dat Dare Pokah, Sketch and Colour, Kitchen Fire, Peace With Guns, Love's Ragpicker

Holding my own, as it were. Read your comment on the template. I don't know man. This one has a nice historical feel to it, and really, I'm too illiterate to mess with HTML too much. Maybe some day.

Yee-haw!! You relly are something, David. I know how many hours you give to do this, and all for no personal gain. I think I speak for all - it's your blog that really belongs in that no.1 spot, this week and every week.. you are the glue that joins us all together.

I feel honoured to be given such a high ranking, oh but, there is such a drop to follow!!

Hi David,
Glad to see myself going up again. And it's quite an honour. Thank you.

And I echo Carol's words here. You are at no. 1 spot. No doubt about that spending so much time for others w/o personal gain.

Came by to visit, thanks for the comment and I notice quite a few of my regular reads on your list.

Must be good taste :)

See ya!

Hi David! Oygsunto the bottom rung of the ladder this week. Only two ways to go, up or down! Woo!

And sideways, in the event of a disaster.

Chertiozhnik said...

Sorry - Onto, not Oygsunto, don't know where that came from. Must be channelling. Dread to think who.

David dear,

I am humbled to be in such company and thanks for putting me in the number one spot. The only thing about vbeing number one is that you either maintain it (which is not easy) or you fall back! I would not mind that either seeing that most of the friends of this list deserve this honor as well.

You work so hard, Carol is right, you should be number one!

Your number one FAN,
me

David,
I can't thank you enough for your encouragement, either by mention in your list or by the inspirations that come from your postings every day such as the blog and partner relation or even faces in the clouds. Thank you so!

Hi FHB,

Illiterate? You? Mate, that is the biggest understatement in history!

See my reply to your comment on the blog review. No html involved at all.

Take care and keep us posted. It's a pleasure to read you.

Hi Cuckoo,

Thank you for those wonderful sentiments.

The honour is mine, for being able to judge so much talent from around the globe.

As for not bothering about personal gain - that's the way my brothers and I were raised.

Hi Chertmeister,

You sure had me fooled there for a minute!

Sounds like you might be channelling some ancient linguist.

Beowulf, perhaps!

Congratulations on being there for the second week running.

It's such a great list of blogs, though, that it's such fun to judge it each week!

Hi Stacy,

It's great to have you back again. Hope you had a good time - it was funny reading about all the laundry you had to do when you returned!

Thanks so much for that link. Will definitely check it out.

Hi Praveen,

Nice to hear from you. And it's great to see you moving up, too.

Thank you for your warm words. I do enjoy judging the blogs each week and if it helps people in some small way, then that is my greatest reward.

I need to go on a trip more often, what a wonderful surprise to come back to! I honestly do not know how one receives this honour, but I do feel very honoured, especially considering the fact that I stumbled into this blogging adventure by the simple desire to keep my overseas friends abreast of my Viennese adventures. Thank you very very much for including me!

I hardly dare ask, but now you have tweaked my curiosity, and I can't resist: Seeing that there theoretically is the possibility to climb another ladder rung or two, how in the world can I improve my rating?

With best wishes for a great Sunday,
Merisi

david mcmahon said...

Hi Merisi,

I'm so glad it was a nice surprise! The blogs are judged on several factors - good luck and I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Thanks a million!
As my fellow blogers have said, you are truly doing a great job.
And I loved this in your above comment:
As for not bothering about personal gain - that's the way my brothers and I were raised.
Truly splendid.

Woo-hoo! Up by one. But I notice you're not a fan of the template FHB and I share a fondness for. Huhmmm - it is a learning process for sure.

Thanks for the encouragement to keep going and the wonderful gathering of blogs to inspire. I didn't think I'd last a month when I started.

Cheers,

Vic

david mcmahon said...

Hi Victorya,

Psssst - I'll let you into a little secret. I am a BIG fan of your template, which is the same one that FHB uses.

You know why? Because it's the template I first started using. Then I realised the ``look'' was dated, with all these new templates around.

That's why I updated my template!

Cheers

David
