Arresting Performance

Too Young To Read Her Own Rights

A German police chief has been criticised after arresting a five-year-old girl for playing too roughly with his son - and then charging her for giving him the finger. He drove her home under arrest when she upset his son at a sandpit.

WHAT was a five year old doing out on her own in a playground? This guy deserves credit for returning her home safely (though personally I would have taken her to a safer home, Social Services perhaps).

Poor kid.

I agree with Shrinky. Perhaps the 5 years old is a budding gangsta. I don't know if my kids knew what "the finger" meant at the age of five though I'm sure they'd heard it verbally translated. However, they never went to the park alone.

That's the trouble with a news story, we read some of the story and don't know the whole story. It does seem odd for a 5 year old to be at a playground on her own, maybe the playground is next door to where she lives, but even so, I wouldn't want any of my kids out alone. What a shame that someone that young knows how to give someone "the finger" even if she knows what it means or not.

I think he overreacted but like Shrinky I'm wondering why a five year old was out on her own? :0

That kid sounds like a brat, I don't blame him. God knows what havoc she was wreaking.
