Grape Expectations

Mama Mia, This Water Tastes Strange

Residents of Marino, an Italian town, thought it was a miracle when white wine began flowing through their household taps. But it was just a case of bad plumbing as the wine was supposed to flow from the public fountain. But the pipes from the local vineyard were hooked up instead to the domestic water supply.

What would we do without your nocturnal trawling...?

Why can't things like that happen here? And where DO you get these tales from?

I wonder how much was bottled for future use before they discovered the mistake? :)

Puts a new meaning to the phrase (as we call water) "Corporation pop!" (old Lancashire term I think.)

That is authentic: I had colleagues there waiting for the fountain to give its yearly boon and they could not believe it when the organisers finally announced that the pipes had gone somewhat mixed up. You had to feel for the people rying to take a shower - it was quite warm - or even just a sip of "water"...
Certainly, quite a few households stocked the results for later sampling.

A miracle indeed! Wouldn't that be amazing?

The fact that they have it flow out of the fountain is just mind boggling in the first place!

Kids, stay away from that drinking fountain!!

What's next? Mozzarella dropping from horses? (Wouldn't want to hear where the Cappuccino comes from, though!)
