Verse And Worse

Random Wit, Errant Rhyme. Not A Literary Crime

Once a jolly swagman
Encountered Larry Hagman
They found a genie without malice
As they hitch-hiked towards Dallas

The scary thing is...I totally got this!

I loved Dallas and "Who shot JR?", there were even bumper stickers asking that question back in the day.

Oh dear, I think I may have just dated myself!

I think it's really swell, son
When you fly with Tony Nelson
You hitch your dreams upon a star
When you catch a ride with ole' J.R.

I was torn both ways about the Dallas series. Yeah, I wanted to know who shot JR, but this was also when soap operas were trying to move into night time television. That was scary. If I remember correctly they eventually did in the form of Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman which might have been one of the first sitcoms.

Cheers!
