Verse And Worse

Random Wit, Errant Rhyme. Not A Literary Crime

Follow the example of Alexander the Great
The conqueror who chose not to berate
The cooks who travelled alongside his army
Lest they confuse souvlaki for salami

Thank you for the link, I am definitely going to look at joining. :)

Thank you for the comment, it made my day, and tomorrow too!

ah, but wasn't it his berating of another in his party that ultimately led to his demise? poison or disease? hmmm...

Thanks for your comment David. Which book is based on a letter? I'm curious. - Jeanne in Oregon

I can see how the name Alexander the Great would inspire a rhyme, any day!

Cooks who know not souvlaki from salami,
One can only describe as truly barmy,
But to berate the cook who prepares your platter,
Could end in gastro and a damned good splatter.

If Alexander was here these days
Choice of food would leave a haze
Would he choose a cottage ham
Or just a sandwich made with spam?
