Ay Carumba

It's A Number Rhumba

Photograph copyright: DAVID McMAHON

This is just a quick thank you to all those readers and friends who sustain my interest in blogging. About 24 hours ago, someone in Illinois became the 40,000th reader of this humble blog. It's been an interesting day or two, because I also chalked up 70,000 page views while my Technorati Authority crossed the 200 mark. My very humble thanks to all of you.

I'd also like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all those who have wished me well as I finish my second novel, Muskoka Maharani, this month. Once that's done, I'll resume the Monday-to-Friday Post of the day segment and my Saturday trademark, Aussiejourno's Weekly Blog Awards.

I'm sure you all noticed that for the past fortnight or so, I have not been able to reply to each individual comment as I normally do. I am totally focused on my novel at the moment. You see, I have a reputation to protect - I have never missed a deadline as a journalist, writer, editor or novelist and I can assure you this will not be the first time. Thank you for sharing this exhilarating journey with me.

It is nice to see new a new visitor on my blog. Thank you for dropped by. I appreciate it very much. I’ve never been in Australia but I know that summer is coming there and that your winters are mild and beautiful just like our springs are. Lucky you!
It has stopped showing but it is so somber and cold outside.
Good luck with your book and have a nice day!

Good luck with the deadline David and congratulations on the amount of hits you've had. I haven't checked my stats for ages but I'd put money on it that I haven't had a thousand visitors lol.

Hooray.
Well done.
I'm amazed you find time to do all this anyway without adding the novel into the mix.
Hope you get finished soon.

Hi Medam,

Thanks for visiting and taking the trouble to comment. Yes, it was very warm here the past couple of days, even though summer is about five weeks away.

Do keep in touch

Hi YesBut,

Checked out your images and commented. Forgot to say I loved the squirrel shot because of its candour - and the Belfast and the cruise ship.

Bravo. Great work. Work to be very proud of.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your good wishes. Don't be ruled by your stats counter. I didn't even have one for the first few months!

The novel's going well in the final stages.

Hi David

Thanks for taking the time to leave your critique of my photographs - especially as I know you are on a tight schedule to finish the book.

Your comments about the images used on http://yesbut-images.blogspot.com/
are pertinent. But they were taken, and chosen primarily with the objective of providing images bloggers can leave humorous captions - with little thought about the quality of the images.

I started posting photographs on http://mysharedimages.blogspot.com/
With the objective of attracting critique which I can use to improve my photographic technique. An example being the “Sweeper”. I wasn’t 100% happy with the photograph initially posted; then thanks to Ozlady (Stephanie), both her comments and work on the image, I was encouraged to close crop the image.

I notice you go in for close-up shots. This has encouraged me to “get up close and personal” the result the water droplets on leaf photograph - it was taken while waiting for a bus. (Typical when you want a bus it never comes, but when you’re taking a photo, and want more time to try other angles, two buses come).

God luck with the book, I now from experience the frustrations that can occur when a book is going to press.

Congrats on the hits David...it's easy to see why. I am running along about the same number and am looking forward to that big 50 number!

You do an absolutely fantastic job juggling between the superb photos, the neat little blurbs almost always accompanied by the "pun of the day" (sometimes pun of the hour it seems), plus your comments to so many and writing a book -WOW! Better to ease off the comments and stay on track, time-wise, with the book though.

Hope your novel goes well!

Thanks for visiting my NorthBayPhoto blog. When you were in Muskoka, you were probably visiting Bala?

Support and friendship is always a two way thing - I'm not at all surprised at how many visitors you have had, it is merely a reflection of the dedication, help and encouragement which you consistently given to each and every one of us. Good luck with your deadline, we are all rooting for you!
