Dry Humour Is Encouraged

No Tap Dancing Here, Please

Photograph copyright: DAVID McMAHON

Because this huge continent-country has been in drought for so long, each city has enforced a level of water restrictions appropriate to the region. A few months ago, our water catchments went below 30 per cent for the first time in memory but then we were blessed with rain and I think the reservoirs are now above 40 per cent capacity. Still, as summer approaches, we need more rain and water usage for gardens has been severely curtailed. As you can see, I've even disconnected my garden hose, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the dark clouds on the horizon will bring rain for the roses!

I wish you rain!

We have areas of drought here, but ~ We are heading into the Winter cycle. With you, it's going toward Spring and the heat of Summer. -sigh-

Repeat, I wish you ran.

Draught?
Have they stopped playing cricket in Australia?
A Test match normally guarantees five days of rain.

Sorry to hear about the drought.

I hope you get some rain soon.

Thank you, Mari-Nanci,

Thank you very much. It's been a very tough time for our farmers.

Maybe with your good wishes, things will start to change ...

Hi YesBut,

I simply cannot argue with that logic. We should just start a cricket series and the rain will come tumbling down ....

Hi Corey,

Thank you for your wishes. I'm just lucky I'm not a farmer. They have done it incredibly tough these past few years.

Hi Hammer,

Thank you very much. I think you'll also get a chuckle out of yesBut's suggestion above!

It's been pretty dry here too - not as bad as down in Georgia but dry enough. However, a down-side now being experienced in the town that is our county seat - people are cutting back on water usage to save money (after the company raised rates) and the manager of the water authority is now saying because of these conservation efforts, they may have to raise the rates more to cover costs. Can't win for losing at times, huh?

David,

Here’s hoping you get some rain soon. What kind of water restrictions/rations do you have in Melbourne?

I completely feel for you and the restrictions. We went through a drought for several years. Finally this past spring we saw relief. The lakes were at flood stage when it was all said and done. Hope you are blessed with relief soon.

below 30%? Ah, how I wish we had even that much in our dams.

At the moment we are on level 5 water restrictions, dam levels 12.1% with 15% of that un-usable (go figure!) Our dam levels havent gone up by more than .1% in years.

They're even thinking of imposing restrictions on bores....
