You Want Me To Moon You?

The Last Light Of Our Weekend

Photograph copyright: DAVID McMAHON

There is something surreal about capturing the first light of the day and then capturing the last light of the day. These shots were taken three hours ago, about 7.15 pm Sunday, after we got home from church. There were no clouds, so it seemed as if some invisible hand had graded a blue wash across the sky. That's the crescent moon up the top of the frame, looking like a cupped palm.

If you are able to take a shot of the moon tonight (no matter which part of the world you're in) do let me know if you post it on your blog.

This reminds me of a Maxfield Parrish print... except it's not a painting.... it's real.

Wonderful capture David. I love the texture of it all.

What a coincidence. The moon photographed in Australia, looks like the one in London!
So that's where it goes during the day.

Would a lightning-bolt, or two, do instead???

Wonderful sky with moon!
7.33pm in Vienna and no moon in sight. Only two or three stars.

The colour wash looks fantastic, but then dame nature as all the best brushes David.. ;)
I'll try for a shot on the moon later and see what I come up with.

It's so interesting to see the moon "tipped on its back" from your side of the world...

That is a profound shot, David.

Very eye-catching. Luna has a power, mystical or real; she gets our attention and captures our sense of awe.

Outstanding.

David, I mentioned your moon photo to Ruby, and she wanted me to ask you if you'd heard the Olde Sailor's Adage of "If the moon is on its backside, the weather will be dry. If the moon is tipped upright, all the rain will spill out."

I got such a kick out of that - I'll bet you will too.

I love your early morning and late day photos. This one, especially, is so tranquil.

I take pictures of the moon all the time, but we had way too many clouds last night to see it. Maybe I'll get a chance tonight.

Nice. I didn't manage to capture the moon that night for you, but I put a moon photo up on my blog a few days ago that you might like to see. I think it's amazing compared with what I could get with the old camera.

Cheers,

David
