Are You Cut Out For Cycling?

I Think You're Taking Me For A Ride

Photographs copyright: DAVID McMAHON

This huge yellow landmark stands near the Dandenong Creek in Melbourne's southeast, near the wetlands. It is a massive diamond-shaped concrete block and as the first shot shows you, there seems to be a missing cyclist here. Oh, hang on. I seem to have tracked the cyclist down, as the second shot shows. He must have been going pedal to the metal!

Are the pieces exactly consistent? Would the cyclist fit inside the gap of the orange piece? Or are they just close enough, to at least offer the illusion.

I'm reminded of those Bugs Bunny cartoons where the monster runs through walls and leaves a perfect monster-shaped hole in each of the walls.

Loved this. There's still some humor left in governments, I guess. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Brian,

They are indeed exactly consistent - as you thought.

And I love the image you have created in my mind. Yes, the Looney Tunes artists did that so well.
