I would like other would-be writers and bloggers to benefit from the fact that I am a bestselling novelist (`Vegemite Vindaloo', published by Penguin) and career journalist with almost 30 years' experience in writing, editing, design, newspaper technology and production.

And honourable mentions go to:

Copper Stiletto, Terry's Playpen, Pope Terry, Kalyan's Dreams, Near Post, Colorado Bob, Chalkhills Collective, Chess World, Lensational, Ubertramp, Lady T, Allan Cook, I'm On My Weigh Down, Daub du Jour, Chele 76, Movies Sans Frontiers, Pasture Musings, Nobody's Friend, Mur 38, Sandip Madan, Who Dat Dare Pokah, Sketch and Colour, Kitchen Fire

wow! Number 1! This is an awesome honor, David, thanks a lot! This encourages me to post even more. But the credit for the new header I have got to share with Fletch, without whom I would not have been brave to do it!

Hi Ak-Man,

Nice to see you leapin' back up again, matey.

Yes, I think Pope Terry and Lady T are terrific, but the competition is pretty tough out there.

Ain't no easy spots ...

Cheers and well done

David

Hi Victorya,

Well done. Your words are your power. And when you start climbing the rankings, it's time to start thinking about where you can strengthen your blog.

My suggestion (and I know it's really tough sometimes) is to try and think of a graphic or an illustration while you're writing a post.

Even if the inspiration hits you later, you can add a design element AFTER you've published a post ....

Cheers

David

Well, dip me in candyfloss and post me to heaven!! I haven't been so tickled in ages - gee whiz, David, thank you my friend (bit worried that fever this week just may have fried your brains a bit, but hey, who am I to fret?)

Think this might call for a lap around both mine AND Nutty Nora's garden today.. whey-hey!

david mcmahon said...

Hi Carol,

Now that is a great word picture!

Not sure what the postmaster general would say to that suggestion!

Can I interview Nora when you;re done with the whoopin' and hollerin' ....

Take care. Enjoy the eight-week break - and let me know how the writing's going.

Bless ya

David

Hey DaviD

Wow thanks! that really is an honour!:) and am going to take up blogging seriously and giving it more thought.

I have been really ill and hence haven't posted all of last week

Also we hosted the bangalore bloggers meet today as a prelude to the barcamp and I mentioned your example as a blog mentor and how important it is for someone to know if he is going the right way.

So you will have more people getting in touch with you.

Cheers

Will blog roll you

This has been so encouraging to me and I'm always flattered and honored to be among some of the best!

Thanks David for your diligence to this time consuming task.

I always post the top 10 each week in my sidebar and would do so even if I wasn't included. Maybe it will help introduce others to these committed bloggers.

Didn't get time to repond much earlier, had a class to teach :)

But thank you. I've been playing with adding more graphics when I think of it. I didn't think of going back to old posts. hmmmm. I need some time to figure this all out me thinks :)

Truly though, it is an honor to be on such a fine list.

Aah David.

More than anything else, I loved the post you had up about things one should do to make their blog more interesting/readable.

I started my blog some time ago with a thought to randomly type down what I felt at that moment of time and didn't have anyone to talk to about it. I am proud to say I have continued in that vein and now I do have a decent number of posts up and I see a very satisfying blog for myself.

I have rarely cared about how many people read my blog but have always been happy when people have. I also try to read and reply to all the comments I get. Appreciation, criticism, praise, abuse, information, tips, advice...they're all there in my comments sections.

I happened to come across your blog from a link on Sam's blog. I was pleased to see his blog come up on yours because he is a colleague and a good friend.

Do drop onto my blog whenver you get some time off from your regular blog visits.
