Heaven Scent

Don’t Look Down Your Nose At This Bloke

A French wine maker has insured his nose for almost $8 million. The unique policy was created for Ilja Gort, the Dutch owner of Chateau de la Garde in Bordeaux, to cover the potential loss of his nose and sense of smell. Jonathan Thomas, lead underwriter at Watkins Syndicate who co-insured the policy with Allianz Nederland had the last word: "This certainly is an insurance policy not to be sniffed at."

I don't know how you do it, David. You are a master of words as well as images.

In that case, I'll have my brain insured, thank you. Just to cover the potential loss of, y'know, my mind 'n stuff. I don't think Allianz Nederland will go for that one, though.

Hmm. This story just has an air about it! Something is rotten in the state of Bordeaux? ;)

Another classic footnote. I find myself reading the story as quick as I can just to get to the 'punchline'. Lots of fun. Thanks!

I heard of similar too. Can't blame the bloke. Love your footnoted, David, and this one is brill. Can't say he had a nose for a bargain, hey?

I hear Jennifer Lopez has her bootie insured as well. Interesting.

I read about a brilliant young chef in the US--can't remember his name--where was memory insurance when I qualified for it? Anyway, he has a disease that is affecting his taste buds and of course it could mean the end of his career. I doubt, however, that he had his taste buds insured.

I heard about this!
I have quite an acute sense of smell. I wonder if my nose should be insured?
Probably not.

I always enjoy your sense of humor with your titles and other witty additions.
