Hip Packet

Petal Pusher Has To Buy 124,000 Red Roses

Will they have enough vases at home? An Iranian man has been ordered by a court to buy his wife 124,000 red roses. The woman decided to claim her mahr, or dowry, after ten years of marriage, saying: ``He even refused to pay for my coffee if we went to a cafe or restaurant". A long-stemmed rose in the Islamic Republic costs a little over $2, so the order will cost him more than $250,000. The husband says he can only afford five roses a day and complains "her billionaire friends put such ideas in her head."

David,
This challenges notions of women not having any rights in Iran, anyway! I would have opted for chocolate, myself.

A single rose from the right person would make me happy.

And to think - I'd be over the moon if my husband would just pick me a wildflower.

125.000 roses have a lot of thorns.

I'd much rather have the cash!!!!!!!

Roses die...unless you dip them in gold.

Maybe she ought to consider having him do that too.

Call me a cynic, but I think I'd rather have the money myself (as a down payment to help me get away from him)!

Hmmmmmmmmm!
I ADORE flowers and love to receive them. On Valentine's Day I was in our village and the florist van pulled up, looking for a cottage....I was trying to make out I had changed my name and infact our house was the cottage being sought!
Sadly, the driver didn't believe me...! LOL!

David...the batteries, we think we have sorted it! LOL!

Thanks to hubby's mathematical calculation.

I'm surprised at this ruling in Iran. It's good he's having to pay after allegedly being mean, but i bet she'd have preferred a few roses and the rest cash!

The roses won't last but the cash would be really helpful to her, I bet. Glad I'm not living there! I wouldn't last long!

If I were her I'd take the money and run. She can buy all the roses she wants later! ;)

He never promised her a rose garden....

At least we have some creative sentencing.

I am grateful that my wife does not ask for such things, but if she did, she would deserve every single petal!

She should take the cash instead!
