With Friends Like These

Those Free Downloads Cost HOW Much?

An English couple have been hit with a $20,000 bill after downloading four episodes of Friends on their cell phone. A London executive's wife ordered the programmes using his "unlimited'' phone broadband package, which allows free downloads - in England. During the download process, he took the phone to Germany for two days on a business trip. When he returned, Vodafone alerted the man's firm to the enormous bill.

FOOTNOTE: Cell the phone.

Outrageous, "Beam me up Scotty"

Of course, how big of phone screen do you need to view those bits? ;)

Oh my. My desire not to own a cell phone just doubled! That's rather outrageous.

Sounds more like ""Pay as you go""

I don't know what I love more--your news tidbits or your footnotes! Cell the phone, indeed!

Reminds me of the Bad Old Days when we paid long distance charges PLUS hourly charges for CompuServ - just to have monochrome chat and BBS access. Oy! Things have certainly changed a lot. I feel sorry for this couple, though. Hopefully the guy didn't lose his job!

Peace - D

Always read the small print! :(

The footnote is another good one David! But then, they always are!

Is that pounds or dollars? Glad I don't have one. Damn things.

Wow, talk about roaming fees! Will someone please tell me how anyone can possibly see a TV show on that tiny screen? An iPhone maybe but most others?

Carefully avoiding things on my phone that include pictures, music, basically anything that requires an internet connections. :)

Peace!

Remember when everyone got cell phones "for emergencies?" Come to think of it that bill would have killed me. I guess that counts! :)

If I were that addicted to tv, I'd be posting from Betty Ford's place.

What a mistake, I hope that it didn't cost him his job as well as a fortune!
