Not A Dream Flight

BA Creates Strange Bedfellows

Passengers on a British Airways flight from New Delhi to London were delayed about 13 hours when members of the cabin and flight crew reported they were too sleepy to fly. Crew members said they had not slept enough because of noise at their hotel, said Laura Goodes, a BA spokeswoman.
The 210 passengers, who had not boarded the plane, were sent to hotels. Each was booked a separate room, but passengers at one hotel were forced to double up after rooms ran out. "There's a lot of anger and outrage here," one passenger, Neal Thapar, told The Times of London, after he had to share a double bed with a man he had never met.

I can't wait to take a look at Shrink's next post, but here's a 'quickie' until then.

Winter 'exercise' (military) scenario, deep in Germany. Running late and the only accomodation available en-route was a ski resort that quickly made 7 beds available in one of their chalets.

Junior sent ahead to get things ready. He excelled. There were 5 singles and a double. He gave it some thought and placed the two seniors in the master bedroom.

Call my bedmate 'John' to protect his identity. He and I made the best of it by demarking our space with pillows down the middle of the bed. Next day he complained bitterly about the arrangement, about almost everything in fact; smoking, snoring, breaking wind - you name it, he complained.

Looking back I agree that he had cause for complaint, but I always suspected that, even if you could overlook my bad manners, he was going to find something to complain about.

Sequel to the story is that both, John and I, eventually divorced our respective partners. Perhaps the incident had already identified the shortcomings in each of our characters?

El Tel,

What a great yarn - you should post that comment on Shrink's site as well.

You do tell a good tale, squire.

Why cant the cabin crew just sleep on the plane like everyone else?

Hi Ak-man,

On long-haul (Trans-Atlantic) flights, the planes are configured with a couple of bunks for what is officially called ``crew rest'', but on a short flight like New Delhi-London (about eight or nine hours) this would not be an option.

Cheers
